Everything I use to run Pennalife

Every tool and app that keeps this site and my business running. Nothing on this list is here to pad a post. Each one earned its spot. Some links are affiliate links, which means I may earn a commission if you sign up, at no extra cost to you.

Domain and hosting

  • Namecheap: Where I bought my domain. It’s budget-friendly and the support is great, even for hosting. I started on its cheapest hosting plan as a beginner and it served me well for a while.
  • BigScoots: When I knew I needed more than beginner hosting, BigScoots was the upgrade. Support is a 1000/10, migration is seamless and totally hands-free, and my site loads fast.

Website design

  • 17th Avenue Website Templates: Might be the prettiest WordPress templates I’ve ever seen. This isn’t my first one from them. My current template is Vivienne: super customizable, easy instructions, and I’ve never needed to contact support.

SEO and content planning

  • RankMath: My all-in-one SEO plugin for optimizing content and on-page SEO. It replaced Yoast SEO, redirections, and more for me.
  • Semrush: I mostly use the free version. But if you run a big business and wonder whether the paid version is worth it, it is. I’ve tried that too before.
  • Ubersuggest: I got the lifetime plan and I don’t regret it. It’s easy, simple, and effective.
  • Content Calendar Template: Plan and track your blog and newsletter content in one place.

Email, funnels, and automation

  • Systeme.io: This one replaced about five different tools for me. It’s the perfect all-in-one software for bloggers and small business owners. I already have a site, so I use it for sales funnels, lead generation, and newslettering. It also has website and blog features, plus fun extras like a deadline countdown timer.
  • Kit (formerly ConvertKit): This was my newsletter app before I moved to Systeme.io. If growing your email list is the only thing you’re focused on right now, I highly recommend Kit. It also has creator perks, like fellow creators recommending your newsletter.
  • Make: This is the automation tool I use for product fulfillment. After you buy anything from my shop, Make gets it to you. It’s a low-cost, highly effective Zapier alternative, and the free plan is generous.

Design

  • Canva: Every graphic I make comes from here. It’s been with me for the past 6 years of business and it’s still one of the most helpful resources I have.

Affiliate income

  • Shop LTK: Apart from Amazon, this is a great place to find your favorite brands and become an affiliate for them. All the girlies and mamas shop here. And if you sign up through my link, you get a $25 reward if approved as a creator.
  • PartnerStack: I recently joined to find and monitor software-focused affiliate campaigns.

Planning

  • All-in-One Life Planner: From tracking my earnings to monitoring my goals, fitness routines, and daily, weekly, and monthly to-do lists, this one has it all.
