- Who Your Target Audience Is: This refers to the right people whose problems you are about to solve. You need to know who your works will serve, and craft content around their needs.
2. Create A Blog Business Plan
Ryan Allis said, “Have the end in mind and every day make sure you are working towards it.” This is why you need a blog business plan. When you go get groceries for your meal, you have a picture of what you’ll eat in mind.
The same thing happens with starting a business blog. You should know the limits you are aiming for; how much time you intend to spend blogging, how much income you want to make per time, and many more goals. Your result will depend solely on the plan you made for your blog.
3. Get a Domain Name and Webhosting Service
In the clearest statement, your domain name is your website address. It’s how people locate your blog (e.g pennalife.com). Craft a good name for your website. Your blog name should be able to conveniently represent you and your business.
These 5 tips will help you craft a superb domain name:
- Use a “.com” domain, they are very easy to remember.
- Choose a name that can be easily spelled and pronounced
- Don’t use too long names (e.g letustalkaboutbeautifulthings.com). About 2-3 words are fine.
- Avoid the use of hyphens and numerals.
- If you are not too vast in word combo, just use your name or a variation of it.
The domain name is not web hosting. Web hosting is a service that gives people access to view your blog online. Without it, your blog and its content won’t be seen online. It’s like saying the web hosting service is your blog home, and the domain, its address.
You could buy your domain name and web hosting service separately. There are plenty of web hosting companies to choose from to buy reliable web hosting.
4. Choose Your Blogging Platform
Starting a blog for free is not hard especially when it’s a paid blog. It is super-easy and more beneficial. If you ever intend to make your blog a business or service thing, or even make money from it, then a self-hosted site is your BEST bet.

5. Set Up Google Analytics
Now that your blog is all set, you need to set up a Google Analytics account to grow your traffic and increase your earnings. GA gives valuable insights, which will help you strategize your blog progress.
GA allows you to track and understand your audience behaviour, what they’re searching for, and whether or not you meet their needs.
6. Create Quality Content
Always have it in mind that your audience are searching for something. Then, address that thing. Create quality content with your ideal client or follower in mind. Make sure your headlines are attention-grabbing, and the content quite informative, and engaging.

Content is king, yes, we know. Now that you have written topnotch content, it deserves to perform well, right? That is why I always say content marketing is the kingmaker! Do not be afraid to press the “share to social media platforms”-FB profile and groups, twitter, Pins (on Pinterest), etc.-, and your contact list.
